Lyn Armitage

Lyn originates from Yorkshire where she trained to be a teacher. She moved to Leicestershire in the seventies and has been teaching and painting in Leicestershire since then.

She has exhibited with local galleries and has sold to the John Lewis group. Her time is spent mainly painting in watercolour and mixed media and preparing for her watercolour workshops and the weekly classes she teaches.

Inspiration for her work comes from flowers and nature. Her aim is not to capture every detail but to explore the atmosphere of flowers en- masse. She floods the paper with water and drops in the colours gradually arriving at the softly focused flowers. Her paintings are on the larger side thus giving the viewer the feeling of being immersed in the flower border. Colour and light are integral to her work. Recently she has been exploring the use of textures and layers of pattern within her paintings.
