After graduating with a degree in printmaking from Chelsea School of Art in 1995, Maczkowski returned to the Midlands and continued to develop his artistic practice, focusing on The Black Country and narratives connected with the region. Although predominantly drawing based, much of the work is mixed media, incorporating paint, printmaking and more recently animation.
Maczkowski exhibits regularly around the UK.
Recent exhibitions include: Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize, Lynn Painter Stainers, Discerning Eye, Society of Graphic Fine Art Open Exhibition and the Derwent Art Prize.
His work has gained a number of awards, including the DotArt Prize (Sunday Times Watercolour Competition), the Contemporary Art Trust Prize (New English Art Club Open Exhibition) and the Creativity Award (166th Open Exhibition RWA Bristol).
