Rachel David

I was born in Guernsey and am still under the influence of its clear light and bright colours.  I started to take painting seriously following early retirement from a career in speech and language therapy.

I work in a wide range of media, including watercolour, gouache pastel and textiles.  The choice of medium is determined by my subject matter and mood. I enjoy most subjects but e
specially the natural world and portraits.

I like to construct and explore the picture surface in terms of its colour, shape and textural design and often end up with a relatively abstract image.

I hope that my paintings and textiles will
convey my own sense of excitement about the infinite number of ways of representing and interpreting the visual world.
